HYDERABAD: The revival plans of the Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IDPL) and Ramagundam Fertiliser Plant have gained momentum. IDPL Hyderabad will be revived from July.
“At least one drug will be manufactured at IDPL in Hyderabad from July,’’ minister of state for chemicals & fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir told reporters here on Friday.
The minister said that the Central government has decided to revive the IDPL units with an investment of around `900 crore.
‘’More than 50 per cent of this sum would go towards reviving the company’s operations in Hyderabad. The remaining will be used for units at Rishikesh and Gurgaon,” he said.
As of now, there are no employees with IDPL Hyderabad, the minister said addded that the Centre would depute some of the employees working in Rishikesh to Hyderabad.
Ahir also said that the Ramagundam fertiliser plant would be revived with an investment of `5,000 crore.
Fertiliser Corporation of India, National Fertilisers Ltd and Engineers India Ltd had recently formed a joint venture to set up ammonia and urea plants of 2,200 tonnes and 3,850 tonnes respectively at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district, to be run with gas, he said.
The plant was renamed as ‘Ramagundam Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited.’
The minister said earlier the Ramagundam fertiliser plant used to run on coal. But, after the revival the new plant would be run on gas and required pipelines would be made available. The minister said that in future, the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and Telangana government as a joint venture would start coal-based fertiliser plant.
The Union minister said the Centre would give `300 crore for the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) to set up a R&D unit in Genome Valley.
