Gets a Rap on Knuckles

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court on Monday expressed displeasure over the failure of the State government to issue a public notification regarding petitions pending in the court against its land regularisation scheme.

Recalling its earlier interim orders directing the government to inform all applicants of the scheme that regularisation was subject to its final verdict, the bench, comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, ordered the government to file a compliance report after the court’s summer vacation.

The bench was dealing with pleas filed by Visveswar Rao and others challenging GOs 58 and 59 issued to regularise house sites under encroachment. It sought to know if the government had given any publication to newspapers and asked the CS to issue a notification and file compliance report.
