Hackers Target GHMC Website, Post Sunny Leone's Pictures

The picture which was up on the GHMC website until 6 pm on Monday, was removed by the GHMC authorities.

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Cooperation (GHMC) authorities got into a tizzy when a nude photograph of porn star-turned-Bollywood actress Sunny Leone surfaced on its official website.

According to reports, Sunny Leone’s objectionable picture was flashed on one of the sections of the GHMC website named as Offsite Real Time Monitoring System (OSRT), which is used to track the flow of garbage vehicles in the city.

The rude shock, officials believe, could have been the handy work of hackers sending a strong message that the website’s security system was weak.

However, officials were quick to respond after coming to know about the nude photograph on its site. GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy has ordered the the GHMC Vigilance Wing to conduct a detailed inquiry into the issue.

The picture which was up on the GHMC website until 6 pm on Monday, was removed by the GHMC authorities.

OSRT was launched in 2011 by the civic body through a private service provider (osrt.in) based in Noida to keep a watch on day to day sanitation works, movement of garbage vehicles, attendance of the sanitation staff where photos are taken by mobile phones by officials and uploaded into the GHMC website.

However, GHMC has scrapped the contract with the service provider (osrt.in) but the link is still found on the GHMC website in which the objectionable photograph was reportedly uploaded by osrt.in admin.

GHMC officials have clarified that corporation has nothing to do with osrt.in and the nude picture of Sunny Leone posted on osrt.in and tagged to GHMC website, is being investigated into. The GHMC vigilance wing has been directed to look into the feasibility of initiating action against the service provider.

However, no police complaint has been filed regarding the alleged hacking so far. GHMC officials say only after a detailed inquiry, further action would be initiated.
