HC asks state govt for info on Nayeem's aide

HYDERABAD: A division bench of the High Court granted time to the counsel of TS government to get instructions regarding the habeas corpus petition filed by Neella Shrilatha, wife of Sridhar alleging that the police had detained him after Nayeem’s death and that his whereabouts are still not  known.

The bench, comprising Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and Justice M Seetharama Murti, was dealing with the petition filed by the wife of Sridhar, who was allegedly a close associate of Nayeemuddin.

The petitioner sought directions to the police to produce her husband before the court. She alleged that the police had detained her husband illegally on the night of August 8 from their house in Hayatnagar mandal in Ranga Reddy district and was being tortured since then.

When the bench sought response of the home department, the counsel of the state asked for time to get instructions from the authorities concerned on the plea. The bench then posted the matter to Friday for hearing.
