GHMC to inspect hoardings from Aug 16

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will take up inspection of all hoardings and unipoles from August 16 to 31 to identify unauthorised structures, misuse of Advertisement Index Number (AIN), hoarding sizes among others.

GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy appointed a four-member team headed by Deputy Municipal Commissionerd (DMC) at all circle levels. In Greater Hyderabad, there are 2,684 hoardings and unipoles, 1,151 bus shelters and six footover bridges for authorised display of advertisements. It has come to the notice of GHMC that large number of unauthorised hoardings have been erected in the city by advertising agencies by misusing AIN.

To identify such illegal hoardings and unipoles, circle-wise teams headed by DMCs will be formed. The team will inspect illegal hoardings and identify the unauthorised ones and prepare a consolidated report and submit the list on the same day itself. After the collapse of a huge unipole in Jubilee Hills on May 2 due to gales and winds, the GHMC utilised the services of JNTU-H to recommend on structural stability of hoardings and unipoles.

The varsity, headed by NV Ramana Rao submitted a detailed report to GHMC a few days ago.
