HYDERABAD: CPI leaders and workers on Monday tried to storm the office of the Income Tax department located at Basheerbagh as a protest against the Centre’s proposal to impose restrictions on domestic holdings of Gold.

Leaders and workers headed by CPI GHMC secretary ET Narasimha, after staging a sit-in near IT department office, tried to barge into the office premises. However, their efforts were foiled by cops.

Later, addressing mediapersons, the CPI leaders advised the Union government not to win the wrath of womenfolk in the country “by imposing meaningless restrictions on holdings of gold by individuals.”
