HYDERABAD:  Are you constructing a house and don’t have sand? Do not worry, the state government will supply the required sand for your house at your doorstep from February.

It will sell sand bags online to all the customers including individuals to construction companies. Each sand bag may weigh 50 kg or 100 kg.

“We have decided to sell sand in bags to all types of customers from next month. The weight of the bag will be decided soon,” official sources in industries department told Express on Saturday.

According to the sources, the officials identified a place near Ramoji Film City on the outskirts of the city for the stockyard  for Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts. “Sand bags will be delivered to customers by truck from the stockyard point. We will have one stockyard each in all the districts and sand bags will be delivered at the doorstep of a customer anywhere in the state,” the official sources said.

Customers will receive the sand within a week’s time after placing the order on government’s website.

To avoid diversion of sand, which is now a precious mineral in the state, each truck will be equipped with GPS. “We will track the vehicle to know whether it is going to the customer’s place or not with the help of the Global Positioning System (GPS),” the sources said.

The cost of each sand bag to be supplied by the state will include the cost of sand and transportation charges.   MINERAL RULES: Meanwhile, industries department officials are drafting Telangana State Minor Mining Concession Rules, 2016 for the state. “The Minor Mining Concession Rules were prepared in the combined AP in 1966. We are making amendments to the 50-year-old rules to make them suitable to Telangana state,” an official explained.
