Many commercial establishments and shops are being permitted indiscriminately in residential areas, causing a lot of disturbance to the residents in the locality. Not only shops but push cart vendors are also being permitted on Padmaraonagar main road.
We are not against street vendors or other petty businessmen. But they are occupying the whole road and erecting semi-permanent structures, causing traffic problem. Even the serene environment at Padmaraonagar Park is disturbed by unauthorised establishments. Besides, many irregular constructions are also being allowed. Unfortunately, the local corporator, who had to put things in order, supported the irregularities.
Another problem unique to Padmaraonagar is the foul smell emanating from Gandhi Hospital mortuary. This problem occurs when power goes off in the mortuary.
Sewage is another problem here. The area beside Sai Baba temple is always riddled with overflow of sewage. The real problem which aggravates all these local issues is that corporators are not service-oriented.
Reservation of wards does more harm than good. Due to reservation, there is no opportunity for local residents or activists to contest the election. Parties field candidates basing on reservation. As a result, Padmaraonagar was represented by a corporator who was a non-local. It would be better if residents or representatives from RWAs became corporators as they would know the local problems and would be committed to solve them.
