Pseudo task force police flee with Rs 19 lakh

A gang of five persons who impersonated as task force police looted Rs 19 lakh from a businessman, who was going to a attend a funeral at Armoor in Nizamabad district.

HYDERABAD: A gang of five persons who impersonated as task force police looted Rs 19 lakh from a businessman, who was going to a attend a funeral at Armoor in Nizamabad district.

Bollaram police on Friday night received a compliant from Siddamsetty Santosh Kumar, a businessman from Armoor, that he got a call from his co-brother Mahesh about the death of latter’s father. Mahesh asked him to collect Rs 19 lakh cash from his Anil of Alwal.

Subsequently, the complainant along with his friend Venugopal contacted Anil and collected the cash near a petrol pump in Alwal. Anil told that he would join them near Alwal vegetable market to go to Armoor.
Meantime, while Santosh and Venugopal were waiting for Anil at the market, five persons approached the duo, claiming as task force police and checked the baggage and asked them to come to police station and collect the cash as they did not carry a receipt.

On reaching the police station, Santosh realised that he was robbed and lodged a complaint. A case has been booked and investigation is on, said the Bollaram police.
