CWC calls for emergency sitting over AGAPE row

The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) called an emergency sitting on Thursday regarding AGAPE case, wherein two HIV positive children living at the orphanage were made to clean a drain.

HYDERABAD: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) called an emergency sitting on Thursday regarding AGAPE case, wherein two HIV positive children living at the orphanage were made to clean a drain. The meeting follows a report submitted by District Child Protection Officer to CWC.

The warden and the supervisor of the orphanage that houses over 200 children were taken into custody on April 22 after they made two children enter a manhole and clean the drainage.

“We received the report from DCPU on Wednesday and based on that we have summoned all the members including owners and caretakers of the orphanage. We will also be visiting the orphanage on Thursday and meeting the children to get a first hand understanding of the situation,” informed V Padmavathi, CWC member, Rangareddy district.
