HYDERABAD: In his last speech prior to assuming the non-partisan role as India’s next Vice President, senior BJP politician Venkaiah Naidu said he has always kept his family away from his political life. “Vice President role is the result of all the hard work I have done in my life for the party’s welfare,” he stated. Speaking on the occasion of the launch of a book ‘Tireless Voice and Relentless Journey’, documenting his work as a senior member of Parliament, he said, “My children have always stayed away from politics and so far they have no plans to enter politics.” The book was launched by veteran businessman Ramoji Rao.

Taking a dig at the Gandhi-Nehru family, he said: “Dynasty is nasty but it is tasty for many.” Soon, he added: “This is my last public address as protocols will now restrict me to speak once I take charge as Vice President.” Sharing a lighter moment, Naidu quoted PM Modi’s jovial side as saying PSOs of all Union ministers appointed during Congress regime were removed citing previous incident of attacks on PM Indira Gandhi.

Talking about his formative years as a legislator in united AP, BJP national president, leader of opposition and Union minister for past five decades, he said several politicians including former CM of AP NT Rama Rao offered him ministry but he never changed parties. The book compiles his speeches and debates over the decades as a member of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
