HYDERABAD: After a thumping response to the first and the second editions of ‘Freedom Walk’, V Design, in association with Mahati Entertainments and AJ Events, is conducting the third edition of ‘Freedom Walk’ at the stroke of midnight of August 15. The walk which will begin at Cyber Towers and traverse  through Hi-Tec city and will wrap up at HiTex seeks to talk about crucial issues pertaining to women – freedom of choice, right of a woman, her safety and empowerment.

Says Vicky Gokavarapu, one of the organisers of the event, “Mahatma Gandhi once said that true freedom is when an Indian woman is able to walk at midnight, without fear, in her city.  Hyderabad is a place, where women work through the night. And they should feel safe. The event is an attempt to bring the voices together, help women bond and support, discuss their issues with one another.  Freedom Walk at Midnight is an awareness campaign to support women safety in the society. “An awareness event for women safety and security. It’s a non commercial event. It’s the third edition in row in 2017.

More than 500 women have already signed up for the Walk. “We are expecting  2,000 women will join. Through the walk they will tell the world that they are not alone and not vulnerable anymore.” The chief guest list includes Padma Devender Reddy, Deputy Speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly, Swati Lakram, Additional Commissioner of Police, social activist Gayathri Swaroop and Sunitha Anand from the Indian women’s cricket team.

Running us through the programme, Vicky says that the participants will assemble at Cyber Towers by 11 pm of August 14. After a quick round of events such as a skit on women’s safety in the society and the need to organise such walks, a warm session, quick talk by ten superwomen who are leading the event, the event will commence at 12 am at the stroke of midnight of August 15. The programme will conclude at HiTex after felicitation. Details:  9000226696
