Dreams of having a better future come crashing down to victims kin

HYDERABAD: The dream of a daily wage labourer, S Krishnaiah to provide good medical care to his 65-year-old paralysed mother, Krishnamma, was crushed as the daily wage worker died after being trapped under a mound of debris in a wall collapse at an under-construction site he was working at in Hyderabad on Wednesday.  Krishnaiah had migrated to Hyderabad 15 years ago from Mahbubnagar district. He is survived by his wife, Renuka and two children.

Yadamma, sister of Krishnaiah said, “My mother has been suffering from paralysis for the past few years. My brother used to work in day and night shifts to earn money for our mother’s treatment. He wanted to shift her to Hyderabad for better treatment. With his death all hopes of a better future have been dashed.”  She added, “There was delay in rescuing my brother and the other trapped daily wage workers. By the time locals reached the accident site, my brother and another person Nagesh had died”, alleged Yadamma.
Labour department to pay ex gratia of L6 lakh Labour department has announced `6 lakh each as insurance amount for the deceased and `30,000 each for their funeral. 

Deputy labour commissioner and secretary of building construction workers welfare unit, K Ravinder Reddy and assistant labour officer Srinivas Goud discussed about the mishap with union leaders and collected details from the police. “We will provide `6 lakh to each worker’s family and `30,000 each for funeral”, said K Ravinder Reddy.
