HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court on Friday granted bail to Hassan Bin Saleh Wahlan, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the trial court in MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi attack case.

On June 29 this year, trial court had acquitted main accused Mohd Bin Omer Yafai alias Mohd Pahelwan stating that the prosecution failed to establish his involvement in attack on Owaisi in 2011. It also acquitted nine others stating that they were found not guilty for offence. However, it convicted four others, including Hassan, by sentencing them to 10 years imprisonment.

It may be recalled that a division bench of the court had admitted two appeals filed by TS government against the acquittal of Mohd Pahelwan and other nine accused in  Owaisi attack case by the VII Additional metropolitan sessions court of the city.

The government sought enhancement of the sentence awarded by the lower court to the four persons convicted in the said offence. Meanwhile, Hassan moved an appeal before High Court submitting that he was already on bail while three others were in jail.

Dealing with the appeal seeking bail, Justice T Sunil Chowdary allowed the plea taking into consideration that he was already on bail.
