Handloom weaver's match-box saree to be on display

A young handloom weaver, Nalla Vijay Kumar from Sircilla, has woven a saree which can be kept in a match box.

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA : A young handloom weaver, Nalla Vijay Kumar from Sircilla, has woven a saree which can be kept in a match box. This saree will be displayed at World Telugu Conference to begin on Friday in Hyderabad.The 29-year-old weaver is an expert in weaving sarees on handloom. A saree made with super fine silk by him was presented as gift for the then US president Barack Obama’s wife Michelle Obama, when the couple had come to India as chief guests for the 66th Republic Day Celebrations.

Drawing inspiration from his father Nalla Parandamulu, the young man has been showing his talent in the art of weaving sarees.In the past, his saree, which was made to fit into a match box was displayed at World Telugu Conference-2012 held in Tirupati.
