Beauties from the yesteryears shine again

HYDERABAD:  Hyderabad witnessed the opulence and elegance of India’s automotive legacy at Cartier Travel With Style, a specially curated event at the Taj Falaknuma Palace over the weekend. 


The 2017 edition showcased 112 of rarest classic automobiles of which there were 73 cars in eight distinctive classes and 39 best preserved motorcycles in three signature classes from the esteemed stables of Indian royal patrons and noted private collectors.


The unique exhibit was judged by world’s leading designers, most successful industrialists and most knowledgeable collectors of classic cars and culminated with an award giving ceremony hosted by Master of Ceremony Alan de Cadenet. 


The Best Car of the Show was 1914 Wolsley 30/40 HP owned by Shivardhan Kanoria and the Best Motorcycle of the show was 1947 Indian chief by owner Arjun Oberoi. 


A notable highlight at the concours was the presentation of the special FIVA trophy to 1921 Rolly Royce Silver Ghost presented by FIVA president Patrick Rollet. Cartier Travel With Style has been recently affiliated to FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens) World Motoring Heritage Year Program with patronage from UNESCO in a recognition of Cartier’s commitment to facilitate Indian automotive heritage preservation.

Hosted by Guillaume Alix, Regional Managing Director, Cartier Middle East, India & Africa, the guest list comprised leading industrialist Gautam Singhania and Tollywood star Naga Chaitanya Akkineni. 


Chief Judge for the coming edition will be Simon Kidston, the New Age Bentley Boy and an expert authority on heritage automobiles
