Commercial buildings to be approved online

After successfully introducing the Online Building Approval System or Development Permission Management System (DPMS) for residential buildings in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits

HYDERABAD: After successfully introducing the Online Building Approval System or Development Permission Management System (DPMS) for residential buildings in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, the corporation is going to introduce online building approval system for commercial and multi-storeyed buildings from February 20.

That means, from Monday onwards, no physical applications from commercial or multi-storeyed buildings would be received from the applicants either at GHMC circle or zonal offices or GHMC head office. The main objective behind this new system is to check rampant corruption in the town planning section which GHMC is notorious for and applicants need not run from pillar to post to know the status of their files or need to meet the town planning staff. Speaking to Express, GHMC chief city planner, S Devender Reddy, said as part of state government’s strategy to facilitate Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), GHMC is introducing the DPMS for commercial and multi-storeyed buildings.

According to him, compared to residential buildings applications, certain additional modifications to DPMS have been made for commercial and multi-storeyed buildings which include submitting of NOC from fire services department, environmental certificate, Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) compliance in energy savings and provision of parking facilities.
