Panic calls from Karimnagar to US

In the wake of a series of shooting incidents in the US wherein people from Telangana lost their lives or were injured, parents of students and employees from Karimnagar are making panic calls enquiring safety of their loved ones.

KARIMNAGAR : In the wake of a series of shooting incidents in the US wherein people from Telangana lost their lives or were injured, parents of students and employees from Karimnagar are making panic calls enquiring safety of their loved ones.


Within a span of 15-days two techies from Telangana were shot dead in separate incidents in the US. Mamidala Vamsi Chander Reddy from Warangal was shot dead by a suspected carjacker, and in the recent Kansas shooting, Srinivas Kuchibhotla from Hyderabad was killed in an alleged racial attack.

N Srinivas, whose son Sravan works as a software engineer in Atlanta, called him on Saturday morning just to ensure he is safe. He told his father that after the two incidents people from the Telugu community are taking precautionary measures. Sravan said: “Our people in the US have decided to  discuss issues, if any, in temples and Telugu community functions only.”


Similarly, S Kishan Rao, whose three sons are  living in different cities in the US for last 20 years, has been in touch with them on a daily basis after the recent killings.
