Uber, Ola drivers to continue strike

HYDERABAD: Even after three-and-half hours of debate and deliberations with the representatives of Road Transport Authority and Hyderabad City Police, Ola and Uber drivers decided to continue with their strike. Talks will resume on Saturday, informed Satyanarayana, general secretary of the Telangana Cab Drivers and Owners Association (TCDOA). 

“We sat down with officials till late on Friday. There have been instances when cab drivers were beaten up by customers and their money was snatched. We need that security. That is what we shared and revisited our demands,” said Satyanarayana. 

The drivers claim that with more and more people registering as drivers, the existing cab drivers are not making enough and hence that needs to stop.

They demanded that the government should come to their rescue and should allow them function with help of meters as they don’t get paid the promised amount. 
They also want the star-rating system to be removed along with the mandatory three trips that will make the driver eligible for incentives during surge hours. 

Uber’s version  
A press release from Uber read that they are pleased that the Hyderabad District Court has issued an order against TCDOA where unions and people stopping and blocking the cars of Uber driver-partners, confiscating their devices or interfering in Uber’s business in any manner. We hope this injunction will ensure Uber driver partners are able to continue serving the city of Hyderabad in safety.
