‘Will look into N-convention encroachment’

KTR to see if hall was illegally constructed; 3 city divisions to get 24/7 water soon

HYDERABAD: Cine actor Akkineni Nagarjuna’s N-Convention centre at Madhapur in the city would be demolished if it was illegally constructed, municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao indicated to the state legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

The N-Convention Centre was built allegedly on encroached Tammidi Kunta lake.
Opposition members Komatireddy Venkata Reddy (Congress) and A Revanth Reddy (TDP) raised the issue during a short-duration debate on the developmental activities of GHMC.They alleged that the state government demolished some structures in Bandari Layout which led to water-logging during the recent rains but spared the N-Convention Centre. “Has the government  decided to gift N-Convention Centre to the rich while demolishing Bandari Layout of the middle class?” Revanth Reddy wondered.

Responding to this, the minister said, “We will examine the case of N-Convention Centre. If it stands in the buffer zone of the local water body, then it will be tackled and the problem will be addressed. We are not here to present a gift to Nagarjuna,” the minister told the legislators.

On the alleged illegal allocation of 450 acres of land to Emaar Properties at Gachibowli, Rama Rao said that he had no information on that at present. Revanth Reddy wanted the state government to take back the 450 acres of land from Emaar Properties and use it for constructing 2BHK houses for the poor. On Revanth’s allegation that a file was circulated for permission for construction of a multiplex near Nagarjuna Circle, KTR said there was no application before GHMC seeking permission for multiplex.
