HYDERABAD: A consolidated report on the findings of inquiries commissioned to inquire into the Madrasa scam was submitted by the Hyderabad district collector to the commissioner of school education here on Friday.

The report found seven or eight officials of the school education department, including former district education officer Somi Reddy, guilty and recommended criminal and disciplinary action against them.

The scam, which came to light last year, involved officials of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, including Somi Reddy who was then the project officer of SSA. They colluded with unscrupulous elements in hiring fake Vidya volunteers for eight madrasas in the Old City of Hyderabad.

A police case was registered and Mahamood Zubair of Fatimanagar, said to be the prime accused, arrested in December.
