R-Day: Security beefed up at airport

: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day, the Telangana police have beefed up security at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and other commercial establishments with high public footfall.

HYDERABAD: In view of the forthcoming Republic Day, the Telangana police have beefed up security at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and other commercial establishments with high public footfall.
The state police have received inputs from the Central security agencies that terrorists may enter using false identities through airports and may indulge in attacks. “The perpetrators have acquired passports of other countries fraudulently and security situation is being reviewed,”  sources said.
Anti-sabotage checks, vehicle checking is being done round-the-clock near the airport. All vehicles entering the city are being checked at the borders. A three-phase security is being set up near the airport.

Arrive early to airports to avoid last minute rush at security check areas missing your flight
In order to complete the necessary formalities in time, it is recommended that domestic passengers reach the airport at least two hours prior to the time of departure and passengers who opt for web check-in are advised to report 90 minutes prior to departure
Number of X-ray machines and security check lanes for domestic passengers have been increased by 40 percent to serve more passengers
The departure ramp has been widened to cater to more vehicles during the peak hours. Self-baggage drop facility has been initiated as a pilot project, empowering the passengers to submit their check-in bags themselves without queuing up at the check-in counters
