HYDERABAD: Film actress Kajal Aggarwal on Tuesday distanced herself from any involvement in the deeds of her former secretary Puttkar Ronson Joseph, who is in custody for alleged involvement in the drug scandal rocking Tollywood currently.

"Just because I care for people who run errands for me does not imply that I have a role in their personal choices,” said the actress in a press release.

The Tollywood star, who is not among the 12 personalities summoned for questioning by the Telangana excise department in connection with the drug scandal, said it was her parents who have always managed her career; with everyone else she shared a professional relationship rather than personal.

About Ronson's involvement in the drug scandal, Kajal only said, "I am absolutely shocked and appalled about this whole incident with Ronnie. I'm in zero support of this and any behavour that is detrimental to the hygiene of our society."

Kajal Agarwal began her career in the Mumbai film industry before finding her mark in Telugu cinema with a series of hits. She is now poised to front a Tamil movie with Dhanush.

Puttkar Ronson Joseph, who is said to have been once Kajal Aggarwal’s manager, was the latest Tollywood figure to be pulled into the drug dragnet.

Ronson alias Johny Joseph was arrested by the special investigation team of the Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department on Monday for possessing 4 gm of marijuana in his house. Ronson Joseph (38) was detained from his house in Pride Apartments at Manikonda on Monday.

While the SIT sleuths have summoned as many as 12 Tollywood celebrities for questioning, none has been arrested yet. Ronson Joseph is the first such arrest.

Prohibition and Excise department director (enforcement) Akun Sabharwal said on Monday, "The SIT has arrested 19 persons so far including Ronson Joseph in connection with the drug trafficking case. Ronson has been arrested and remanded. He was in possession of narcotic and psychotropic substances."
