HYDERABAD: Congress leader Moola Mukesh Goud's son, Vikram Goud, suffered severe gunshot wounds in a mysterious incident at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad in the early hours of Friday.

Vikram Goud,  a Youth Congress member himself, was rushed to Apollo Hospital at Jubilee Hills at 330. am with severe injuries on his right shoulder, stomach and spinal cord. After removing three bullets from his body, doctors stated that his health condition was stable.

Police said they do not know whether Vikram Goud was attacked by anybody or whether it was a suicide bid.

According to preliminary investigation by the police, the firing incident happened at Vikram Goud's house at Gayatri Hills near Hafeez Baba Nagar in Banjara Hills.

Neighbours said only Vikram and his wife Shipali and their children were in the house at the time. Vikram's security guard was sleeping in the outhouse at that time. Police are yet to find out who exactly fired the gunshots.

At around 3.30 a.m, Vikram was getting ready to perform puja in his house. At that time, some gun shots were heard from his house. Later, his wife Shipali a rushed severely wounded Vikram to Apollo Hospital for treatment, police said.

In her statement to police, Vikram's wife Shipali said that she and her two children were in a room upstairs when she heard the gunshots. Sherushed down to see her husband lying in a pool of blood.

Hyderabad West Zone DCP A Venkateswarlu, who visited Apollo Hospital and enquired about the incident with local

police and also with the family members of Vikram Goud, told media that Vikram was unable to explain how the incident happened. He said the Youth Congress leader had no firearm licence.

Police said the reasons behind the firing were not known but, they were trying to verify the CCTV footage of the building to find out exact reasons and also to nab the culprits. Clues team visited the spot.

Police said a crude gun was used in the firing incident. As blood stains were erased in the house soon after the firing, police suspect that a family dispute could be the reason for the incident.

The weapon was seized from Vikram's house along with a cartridge. Two empty shells were also recovered.
