Skip global, go local

Every once in a while, we must stop to appreciate and celebrate our roots and Taste of Telangana at Cayenne does just that.

HYDERABAD:  When in Rome, be a Roman. But surprisingly when in Telangana, one often tends to forget the rich local cuisine and embraces the exotic. While foodies should get to taste all cuisines regardless of local and regional factors, the third 'Formation Day' of Telangana state is certainly a good time to revisit our local, perhaps forgotten, delicacies.

In an attempt to celebrate it is Mercure Hyderabad KCP's “Taste of Telangana” Food festival at Cayenne – an all day diner. The fest is showcasing authentic cuisine inspired by the different regions of Telangana.

With a choice of veg and non-veg menu, chef Vinay Kumar at Mercure Hyderabad KCP has recreated a menu with the best of local cuisine.

The must-tries include Vonkaya Pachi Pulusu (Traditional Telangana dish made of Brinjal), Dosakai Royalla Igguru (Sunmelon Prawn Curry), Gongura Chicken Curry, Chinta chiguru Mamsam (Mutton Curry cooked with Tamarind Leaves), Mokka Jonna Vepudu (Babycorn fry). All these go well with hot rice.

If you are in a mood to just munch some snacks, give the French Fries and Manchurias a skip and try out Sarvapindi, Sakinalu, Pachipulusu, Gatka, Bagaarannam, Korrala Payasam and Bakshyalu etc.

Says Dinesh Rai, General Manager, Mercure Hyderabad KCP, “Classic Telangana food is a quintessential blend of robust yet delicate flavours comprising of many textures and is unique from other culinary traditions of India.

Paying a tribute to the State Formation day, we have introduced “Telangana Food Festival” with an objective to introduce our guests to the distinct, vibrant and traditionally charged delights from various regions of the state.” The fest is on till June 15 from 7 pm onwards. Details: 67888888/60
