HYDERABAD: An IAS officer’s son is in the dock for his alleged involvement in the death of his father’s car driver.
The car driver, Bhukya Naga Raju (40), working with IAS officer G Venkateswara Rao, joint director in agriculture department, in Hyderabad, died two days ago under suspicious circumstances.
The body of Naga Raju was recovered from the penthouse of Sai Kalyan Residency Apartments, located at Yousufguda under Jubilee Hills Police Station limits on Sunday, when residents grew suspicious about foul smell emanating from the penthouse.
After recovering the body, police found that it was the body of Naga Raju, who was working with IAS officer Venkateswara Rao.
When the police verified the CCTV footage of the apartment, they found that Naga Raju along with the IAS officer’s son Venkatesh was seen going up on the staircase towards the penthouse. In another footage, recorded later, IAS officer’s son was seen coming out alone.
Police suspect that IAS officer’s son was involved in the offence. However, police said they were investigating the case and they had to establish the role of IAS officer’s son in the mysterious death of Naga Raju.
“We have registered a suspicious death case. During the preliminary probe, we verified CCTV footage. We will question Venkatesh in connection with the case,” a police officer said.
