Police said that Tirupati Rao suffered seizures on Monday and fell unconscious near Ganga Theatre, Dilsukhnagar. The police took him to Osmania General Hospital.

“We were searching for him from Monday. Someone advised us to call 108 ambulance service, which we did and gave details. They informed us that a person was admitted to OGH. After searching for him at the hospital and failing to find him, we lodged another complaint with Afzalgunj Police Station on Tuesday evening and handed over photographs of Tirupathi Rao,” said B Srinivas, Tirupathi Rao’s brother-in-law.

Tirupati woke up on Tuesday morning and asked patients in the next bed why he was at the hospital. “He walked away from the ward when nurses were caught up with duties.

His son had contacted me on Wednesday afternoon. At OGH, an electrician walked into a room beside the generator area on and found a body. We were informed of this an hour after Tirupati Rao’s son left. After taking photographs, we showed it to the son who identified him,” said Afzalgunj inspector C Anjaiah.

“At 2.30 p.m on Wednesday, we got a call from the police stating that they found a man in a room in OGH and it could be the same person,” Srinivas said.A postmortem examination was conducted on Thursday morning and the body was handed over to the family. The authorities have ordered an internal inquiry.
