State governments told to ensure security of medical staff: CK Mishra

The Union Health secretary CK Mishra was in the city to deliver  a lecture on occasion of foundation day of Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

HYDERABAD: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has requested all State governments to take adequate measures to provide security to all medical staff including doctors, said CK Mishra, secretary to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Addressing a press conference on Monday here, he said, “Government of India is extremely concerned on these incidents (attacks on doctors) happening at places and the minister and the ministry requested all state governments to take adequate measures to provide security to not just doctors but to all medical staff working at hospitals because we must ensure there is no disruption of health care in the country,” he said.

After incidents of attacks on doctors in Maharashtra, doctors there took up protests.

Expressing support, members of their fraternity in different States too demanded security to be provided to doctors.

The Union Health secretary CK Mishra was in the city to deliver  a lecture on occasion of foundation day of Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

Also, the minister held a meeting with Telangana chief secretary SP Singh, where he reviewed the programmes taken up by the State’s Health sector.
