HYDERABAD: Three hundred boys and girls took an oath to be in the service of people suffering from diseases and needs  treatment with human touch. They are all were participants in ‘Young Doctors Camp’ organised by Yashoda Group of Hospitals. These bundles of bubbling enthusiasm spent four days from May 15-18 with stalwarts in nation’s medical field at three hospitals of Yashoda group as part of the 7th batch of ‘Young Doctors Camp.’ 

The camp is hospital’s annual event intended to provide real life experience for students aspiring to be medical professionals. The camp has attracted high school students from both Telugu states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and also from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra. 

More than 2,000 applications were received out of this 300 students were selected for the camp after an exhaustive selection process.  The aspiring little doctors were taken around the medical facilities in the Yashoda Hospitals at Secunderabad, Somajiguda, and Malakpet to make them familiar with different medical departments like worldclass diagnostics, outpatients departments, inpatients wards, operation theaters, nursing stations, pharmacies and tackling medical emergencies.  

Participants showed keen interest as of the camp was structured in a manner where sessions were inter spread with academic and fun filled activities. Camps academic activities included classroom sessions where prominent doctors gave lectures, surgery videos were shown, quizzes conducted every day.

The camp is free and for students who have passed Class 9 and their selection is based on the evaluation of their marks sheet in the academic year 2016-2017 and checking their interest in medical profession. The hospital provides future doctors  with a ‘Young Doctors kit’ too. 

“I am sure we could enhance the understanding of these boys and girls about the advantages, challenges and excitement of being a doctor. Joining in the medical profession is both a challenge and also rewarding experience,” said Dr GS Rao, Managing Director of Yashoda Group of Hospitals. The camp has strengthened the  resolve to strive hard to join Nobel Medicine profession.” said I Anurag from Vizag.
