HYDERABAD: The traffic cops manning the city roads and important junctions have been provided with cooling vests on Monday, notwithstanding the south-west monsoon set to hit Telangana approximately on June 5.

This jacket maintains the body temperatures at 6 to 12 degrees Celsius lower than the ambient temperature for three to five hours, depending on the humidity in the environment.

A Ravinder, joint commissioner of Police(Traffic), Hyderabad, said the product is very simple to use. One has to just dip, squeeze and wear. Uniqueness of the product lies in the fact that the person wearing it feels dry even after dipping it in water.

Now that the summers are almost over, the cooling vests can be used in other seasons as well. The vests, when used without soaking in water, can keep the user warm in winters.

“The product has a wide range of benefits such as maintaining normal body temperature in extreme heat conditions while neutralising the effects of outside temperature, keeps the heart rate elevation and thermal and cardiovascular strain in check, decreases dehydration and enhances tolerance levels,” the joint CP said.

The Asian Institute of Nephrology has taken the initiative for the upkeep and wellbeing of Telangana traffic police by offering Hyzesst cooling vests as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme to cope with the intense summer heat.

The Asian Institute of Nephrology managing director Dr Mallikarjuna C visited the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate and handed over the cooling vests to the Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy.
