Four auto firms display models

Days after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced the allocation of `500 crore for purchase of vehicles for the police department, representatives of Honda, Tata, Ford and Mahindra automobile companies brought their vehicles to the DGP’s office here on Wednesday for a study of the features of the vehicles.

HYDERABAD: Days after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced the allocation of `500 crore for purchase of vehicles for the police department, representatives of Honda, Tata, Ford and Mahindra automobile companies brought their vehicles to the DGP’s office here on Wednesday for a study of the features of the vehicles.


Director-general of police Anurag Sharma and other officials examined the various models of vehicles and interacted with the representatives of companies. They asked the representatives about the possibility of modifying some features to make the vehicles suitable for police use and operation. The companies agreed to undertake the required modifications and put them on display again soon. 


Earlier, the government had sanctioned huge funds to the police department for buying  Innova vehicles and two-wheelers for patrolling.
