HYDERABAD: The South Zone police have arrested nine persons -- including two Bahrain nationals, a Qazi and two women -- for indulging in contract marriages with minors in the Old City.
On October 31, complainant Kulsum Begum went to police stating that two persons, Mohamed Mahmood Abdul Rehman Mahmood and Yousuf Mahmood Abdul Rahman Mahmood Khairi, from Bahrain approached her and the former married her daughter in the presence of Qazi Askar Ali Rafai at King Koti.
Kulsum Begum said the duo took her daughter to Bahrain as maid servant and sexually exploited her before sending her back home. Now, they were again planning to marry another girl from the city called Ayesha Bee.
It was revealed during the investigation that the Bahraini men had paid huge sums as commission to local brokers to arrange marriages for them with minor girls. “They married minor girls, spent some time with them and later sent them back to the city,’’ said V Satyanarayana, DCP, South Zone.
Similarly, the Kamatipura police arrested five persons Bipasha Bee, Rahseeda Bee, Naser Bin Mahmood, Fathe Bin Mahmood, Salman for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The DCP said that the minor girl was married off to Arab Shaik Sagharoun Salim Abdallah, 64, from Oman.
Police detain 67 suspects in search operation
Hyderabad: The South Zone police have taken as many as 67 persons into custody for verification and detained history sheeters during cordon and search held in Chandrayanagutta and Chatrinaka police limits on Friday. During the search operation, police detained 67 persons and verified their finger prints with e- finger prints recognition device.
On verification of their finger prints, as many as 27 history sheeters, eight old property offenders and 32 suspects were identified. All the 67 persons were taken into custody and verifying their complicity,’’ said the DCP V Satyanarayana. The DCP said they have done cordon and search operation following USA President Donald J Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump attending the Global Entrepreneur Summit.
