HYDERABAD: After identifying hot spots for child sexual abuse in city, interventions to fight child sexual abuse and cyber security have been initiated. Tharuni, an NGO, with support of British High Commission launched the project Safe Childhood to educate all stakeholders — children, teachers, parents and police — and how all of them can fight it.

A total of 10 schools were selected from these hot spots identified after students from IIM-Indore studied cases reported at Bharosa centre in city. A training session was held for teachers, and they were provided with relevant material to communicate with students.

Teachers who underwent training revealed that they have observed behavioural changes among children. Children believe that this is one way to protect them and be prepared for anything untoward. B Bhuvana, a sixth grader said that they can approach their teachers, police and childline in case they want to report incidents.
