HYDERABAD: A cab driver of Hyderabad is being accused of killing his fiancee because he suspected she was seeing another man. Police say he threw her body in the lake at IDL in Kukatpally on Friday but confessed to the police after her parents lodged a missing person complaint.

Police retrieved the body from the lake on Saturday and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

The accused man, A Krishnaiah alias Krishna, is a cab driver who lives in Kukatpally. Some time ago, his parents had arranged for him to marry a distant relative Sowmya (19), a first-year degree student from TSIIC Colony in Shapurnagar in Jeedimetla.

However, Krishna sought some time to get settled. However, the relationship between Krishna and Sowmya soured as he suspected that she was having an affair with another man.

On Friday morning, Sowmya did not return from college and her parents lodged a missing person complaint with the Jeedimetla police in the evening.

At around 10 pm, Krishna drove to the Kukatpally police station and confessing to killing his fiancé.

According to Balanagar assistant commissioner of police T Goverdhan, Krishna asked Sowmya to meet him in the HMT area in Kukatpally. An argument erupted between them and Krishna allegedly had punched the woman in her chest and she died instantly. She packed the body in a gunny and he dumped it in the lake at IDL in Kukatpally.

Police have booked a case against Krishna under Sections 201, 302 and 363 of the Indian Penal Code.
