Multi-modal logistic park to come up at Shamshabad

HYDERABAD: For integration of airport, rail and road connectivity, the state government proposes to develop a multi-modal logistic park in about 300 acres of land around Shamshabad with best infrastructure for future requirements, minister for municipal administration and urban development KT Rama Rao has said.Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the departments concerned like  roads & buildings, transport,  MAUD, AAI and NHAI to prepare detailed plans for establishing the multi-modal logistic park. 

Addressing a gathering at Batasingaram after laying the foundation stone for two logistics parks at Batasingaram and Mangalapally, the minister said that  10 more logistic parks would be established to strengthen the logistic infrastructure as well as generate employment. The proposal for the 10 parks would be finalised at the next cabinet meeting, he said.The Comprehensive Transportation Studies has recommended six road-based goods terminals and three rail-based terminals. Besides, logistic parks are aimed at providing an in integrated one-stop facility for freight operatrors, third-party logistic service providers (3PL), cargo handling firms, truck drivers. These will comprise warehousing and parking facilities, and would reduce   transporation and warehousing costs, pollution, and congestion, he added.   

Logistics in the country has emerged as one of the most attractive markets in the world. It is a critical factor for the growth of agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors in the country and is the backbone of any ecocomy. Hyderabad is well connected with major centres of economic activity in South India such as Bengaluru and Chennai and because of its strategic location, it is also as the gateway to the South. 
Impressed with the Telangana government’s policies, industries were looking towards the state for investment and establishing new units, he said, pointing out that e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart had already established their fulfilment centres in Hyderabad. 

SPIKE ROADS
Rama Rao announced that the proposed 330-km-long Regional Ring Road (RRR) beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR) would be taken up soon. To connect ORR with RRR, the state government will lay Spike Roads connecting Inner Ring Road and ORR.

‘No forcible acquisition of land’ Rama Rao 
said that the state government would not acquire farmers’ lands forcibly. It would not acquire lands unless 
required for development. And those  required for development would be acquired with the consent of farmers and payment of adequate compensation, he claimed. Rao lashed out at the previous governments for their anti-farmer policies and forcibly acquiring lands. “The TRS government is pro-farmer and will never acquire land unless required for projects. Previous governments had snatched lands from farmers and handed over the same to corporates and others, he said.
