Mom left in street with disabled child, son’s body in Kukatpally

The landlord of the house refused to let the mother bring the body of her 11-year-old son who had died of dengue, inside.

HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a mother along with her intellectually disabled son was forced to spend a whole night in the rain on the streets as the landlord of the house refused to let her bring the body of her 11-year-old son inside on Wednesday night in Kukatpally. Dasarla Suresh was a class VI student of government high school in Venkateshwar Nagar and had died of dengue at Niloufer hospital earlier that day. The landlord Jagdishwaraiah, who runs a grocery store, believed it would be inauspicious to let the body inside as his son was recently married.

Following this, the 38-year-old mother Dasarla Eswaramma along with her nineyear- old younger son Dev Kumar had to spend the night outside home in the rain with the body. The incident took place in Venkateshwar Nagar in Kukatpally area, when Eswaramma brought the body of Suresh to the house in an ambulance, where she lived with her two sons.

Her 14-year-old daughter Chandana stays with her father Anjaneyulu. The woman is a domestic worker was living on rent with her two sons. According to the residents, for more than two hours the mother pleaded the house owner but he showed no mercy and turned her away. Neighbours bought a body freezer and covered it with tarpaulin sheet. Residents demanded the landlord to bear the funeral expenses, which was performed at HMT grounds in Quthbullapur on Thursday. No complaint has been lodged with the Jagadgirigutta police station against the landlord on the matter.
