HYDERABAD: Residents of Secunderabad Cantonment Board are angry as the Local Military Authority (LMA) has closed down another road.The road was used as an alternative by people traveling from Hakimpet towards Bollarum or other parts of Secunderabad whenever the main road is blocked either due to CM KCR travelling to his farmhouse in Siddipet or due to heavy traffic. Closing down of roads has been a bone of contention between civilians residing in and around SCB and the LMA.
S Jitendra, a resident of Bollarum says, “The military should follow the set procedure for road closure under the Section 258 of The Cantonments Act. The military has closed down more than 20 such roads across SCB.”
S Chandrasekhar of Open Secunderabad Cantonment All Roads (OSCAR), said, “We will approach the CEO of SCB regarding this issue. The LMA contends itself citing 2014 judgement of Hyderabad High Court as a legal authority to close down roads.”
