PM yet to consent to inaugurate Metro

he state government is awaiting confirmation from the prime minister’s office for Narendra Modi’s consent to inaugurate the prestigious Hyderabad metro rail corridor from from Miyapur to Ameerpet (13 km) of Corridor-1 and Ameerpet to Nagole (17 km)  of Corridor-3 in the last week of November this year.

HYDERABAD: The state government is awaiting confirmation from the prime minister’s office for Narendra Modi’s consent to inaugurate the prestigious Hyderabad metro rail corridor from from Miyapur to Ameerpet (13 km) of Corridor-1 and Ameerpet to Nagole (17 km)  of Corridor-3 in the last week of November this year.The work on this stretch in all respects would be completed for commercial operations including obtaining of safety certification between November 15 and 20, minister for municipal administration and urban development KT Rama Rao said here on Thursday.

Modi is scheduled to take part in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES)  which will be held in the city from November 28  to 30. The state government wanted the prime minister to inaugurate the world’s largest elevated metro rail network being built in public-private partnership and on the basis of DBFOT basis (design, built, finance, operate and transfer).


After inspecting the works at Oliphenta Bridge near Secunderabad railway station, where a massive 1,100-tonne steel girder was laid across the road over the railway bridge a few days ago, he told reporters on Thursday that the citizens of Hyderabad were eagerly waiting for the metro rail commercial operations to start soon. “If the schedule of the PM is busy, we are ready for another convenient date as the state government is keen that the prestigious project should be inaugurated by prime minister as it should have larger visibility.’’
