Bonalu festivities in Hyderabad from July 28

Bonalu festival will be celebrated on a grand scale on August 5 followed by colourful Maha Ghatam procession on August 6. All the Mahankali temples in the city will be decked up for the occasion.

HYDERABAD: Bonalu festival will be celebrated on a grand scale on August 5 followed by colourful Maha Ghatam procession on August 6. All the Mahankali temples in the city will be decked up for the occasion.

The 10-day Bonalu festival will begin on July 28 and will culminate on August 6.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Akkanna Madanna Mahankali Mandir president G Niranjan said Maha Ghatams will be brought in a procession from Kashi Vishwanath Temple Shalibanda and installed on the temple premises.

A photo exhibition on Bonalu will be inaugurated on August 1.  Thottela procession will be taken out on August 4. The main Bonalu festival will be celebrated on August 5. The Mahankali Jathara and procession will be taken out August 6, he said.
