Man ends life, blames workplace harassment in Hyderabad

An executive working with a leading retail chain in the city allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Bhongir. She was found dead on the tracks on Thursday morning.

HYDERABAD: An executive working with a leading retail chain in the city allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Bhongir. She was found dead on the tracks on Thursday morning.
The deceased, identified as Kondepuri Suresh, left a note saying that his superiors were harassing him at the workplace. According to the note, he said that his superiors did not allow him to go on leave. Railway Police booked a case under section 174 CrPC and have begun to probe into the matter.

Police said that Suresh(42) was working as a Senior Operations Manager in a retail store in the city and was residing at Attapur along with his wife and children. He had told his wife Sushma, that his superiors were harassing him and not allowing him to perform his duties properly. 

He was allegedly under extreme pressure from the regional manager and area manager, who had reportedly humiliated him in front of his subordinates on multiple occasions. As a result, the store managers and his immediate juniors also started ignoring him. The suicide note said that he was looked down upon even by the store’s staff, which he found to be even more humiliating. “ I could not work properly because I was obstructed in various ways.

They did not even approve my leaves. They withheld my salary for one month, due to which the loan installments and other expenses became difficult to handle, “ he wrote. Police say that he had left home on Wednesday morning and did not return. Railyway personnel, on Thursday morning noticed his body on the tracks and informed the police. T Achyutam, Sub-Inspector, Railway police Nalgonda said a case has been registered.
