Abusive remark: Police record BJP neta Raja Singh’s statement

HYDERABAD: Days after the Rein Bazar police had registered criminal cases against BJP MLA T Raja Singh for allegedly making derogatory remarks and abusing a section of people and their religious beliefs, the police recorded his statement under Section 41 (A) of CrPC.

Deputy commissioner of police V Satyanarayana said on Sunday that the police would file a charge sheet in the court for legal proceedings.

“We request the public not to circulate fake and fabricated messages, videos and pictures that could flare up communal tension in the old city. If any one indulges in such activities, we will not hesitate to take stern action,’’ he warned.

In another case, the Rein Bazar police detained MBT leader Asif Iqbal of Yakutpura for posting a video on WhatsApp and through a local TV channel provoking different communities. “His words in the video are highly objectionable and may cause breach of peace and public tranquillity in the city. He is promoting enmity between two communities which may cause breach to the safety and security of Hyderabad city.” “A case has been registered under appropriate sections of law against Iqbal and the TV channel for circulating the video,’’ police said.
