HYDERABAD: A day after the attack on two junior doctors at Gandhi Hospital, doctors on Sunday said that security at the hospital has to be enhanced to ensure safety of doctors and staff attending patients. A meeting would be held between the hospital administration and junior doctors in a day or two to review the security measures that are being implemented now and status of it.

On Saturday morning, two junior doctors were attending a 24-year-woman who had received multiple injuries. While the doctors said the patient had to be shifted to orthopaedics department’s emergency ward, the attendants demanded her to be shifted to ICU and reportedly abused the doctors. One of the junior doctors said that while the mob tried to physically attack them, it was thwarted. Based on a complaint, police registered cases against accused.

In the aftermath of the incident, the hospital’s administration officials said they will hold internal review meeting. A similar incident was reported in September 2017.
