CHENNAI: A study of Flipkart’s consumer data shows how fashion in Hyderabad is heavily influenced by Tollywood, Bollywood and an eclectic mix of stylish Indian trends. Fashion in Hyderabad draws inspiration not from Western fashion, but the trends set by their local heroes. Once the home of Nizams, the fast and fascinating fashion trends in Hyderabad combine old world charm and grandeur with the bling of a modern metropolis.

Shopper base: 15 lakh.

  • We saw a huge spike in Bollywood related queries right after the most-talked-about wedding last year _ the Anushka-Virat wedding.

  • Bollywood net sarees, gowns and designer dresses were in demand. Several trends like the Rajasthani shorts for Humma song in OK Jaanu or Salman’s blue stone bracelet became huge trends around the respective movie.

  • Hyderabad contributes to close to 10% of all Bollywood related searches in the country.

  • Hyderabad ranks even ahead of Bangalore and Delhi in the quest for Bollywood inspired trends (1. Mumbai 2. Hyderabad 3. Bangalore 4. Delhi 5. Patna), with the contribution from Mumbai and Delhi being only 6.5% and 4.2% respectively

  • Most searches and purchases are for the app/desktop with a majority of 85% from the App

  • Men are seen buying more jewellery than women - Salman’s blue stone bracelet became huge trends around the respective movie releases.

  • Flipkart fashion offers the latest in fashion across categories, services over 20,000 pin codes, offers over 5 lakh styles in ethnic wear.
