HYDERABAD: It was a day when scores of students took back bags full of inspiration to practice yoga. Marking the International Day of Yoga and taking the social media campaign, #HumFitTohIndiaFitforward, around 2,000 students from eight schools of the Pallavi Model School and Delhi Public School groups came forward to perform yoga. The enthusiastic children, students of Class IV and above were all and gathered on the Nadergul campus of Delhi Public School as early as 9:30 am.

They gathered there also to mass-perform four yogasanas and enter the Asia Book of Records. The air was filled with cheer and enthusiasm as the children first performed basic asanas (postures) to some soothing music. Then, 23-year-old Tejaswini Manogna, a yoga practitioner, guided the children through four asanas which the children performed diligently. She also made them perform pranayama (breathing exercise).

“Yoga helps you increase memory power and concentrate better on all your activities. It needs to be performed on a daily basis and in a disciplined manner. It will help you,” she said as the children applauded her. One of the students disclosed later Yoga was already a part of their daily routine. Sudha, director (academics) of Delhi Public School exhorted the children to include yoga in their daily regimen. Cultural programmes were also held on the occasion.
