HYDERABAD: Seven-year-old Akshaya, eldest of the three siblings who watched in horror as her younger sisters disappeared under the debris of a wall collapse, is yet to recover from the shock. The death of the two sisters has left the girl in a deep shock.

“I saw the wall coming down and ran into the nearby bushes in fear. I did not know what was happening till my parents came down from the work,” Akshaya told Express.

The family moved to the city for work after Dasara festival and were planning to return to their native after Sankranti.

Akshaya said that while her sisters were playing near the wall, she stood at a distance observing them even though they have asked her to join.

“As I was watching, suddenly there was a big noise and the wall collapsed. Out of fear, I ran into the nearby bushes for cover. I didn’t know what happened to my sisters,” she said.

Her father Dastagiri said that they were planning to move to another location after competing their work at the site in a few days. “Akshaya and Pravalika went to school at our place. But as we were planning to shift in some days, we did not admit them to any school here,” he said.

The couple along with their daughters had big plans for their future and were planning to go home for Sankranti with a handful income.
