HYDERABAD: Rolling a joint is a passe now. Peddlers in the city have now started to cell marijuana oil. On Saturday, authorities caught two youngsters with around one litre of cannabis oil and seven kg of dry ganja leaves. This is the first time that weed oil has been seized by officials from the city. The extracted oil is learnt to be highly potent.
Smokers lace their rolling paper with the oil that is then used to roll the ganja leaves. It also more expensive. While 25 grams of ganja is sold for Rs 500, just 10 ml of the oil costs Rs 1,000. Saturday night, the duo were allegedly planning to sell the ‘stuff’ to customers who were partying at a grand music event organised in the city.
The accused duo, Manikanta (24) and Abilash alias Javed, procured the oil from a person named Balu who hails from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Officials got a tip-off about the duo from junior artiste R Veda Sai Kumar, who was arrested with 1.2 kg of ganja on Friday.
