Standard Operating Procedure to govern nod for meetings at Exhibition Grounds

Clearance to conduct events at the venue will soon be given online, Joshi added at a review meeting with officials in the wake of the recent fire accident during the Numaish.

HYDERABAD: Permission to hold meetings, festivals and other events at the Exhibition Grounds must be granted on the basis of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Chief Secretary SK Joshi told officials on Wednesday, and gave them a week to come up with a draft SOP.

Clearance to conduct events at the venue will soon be given online, Joshi added at a review meeting with officials in the wake of the recent fire accident during the Numaish. Permission must be secured from the Fire, Municipal, Police and Electricity departments to conduct events at Exhibition Grounds.

As part of the SOP, officials must prepare a single application form to grant clearance from all the departments, the Chief Secretary said. He also wanted the officials to come up with a model layout for the conduct of Numaish, distribution of fish medicine, and other events. Emergency exits, passages for fire engines, parking lots, drinking water, insurance facility, fire hydrants and other amenities must be provided at the venue, Joshi told the officials.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar said his department would ensure all the norms were followed while conducting events at Exhibition Grounds. Municipal officials would conduct random inspections and accord top priority to the safety and convenience of people at the venue, he added.
