KOCHI: The awards instituted by the Kerala State Hindi Pracharak Sabha (KSHPS) in memory of freedom fighter, journalist and Hindi Pracharak, C P Mammu for 2009 were announced in Kochi on Monday.

T Vishwanath Mallya of Kochi, Thilakan Kavanal of Tripunithura, Kamalam Kumar of Kothamangalam and A K Sathyabhama of Panangad, who had lent their hand in propagating Hindi and Khadi during the freedom movement were bestowed with the Hindi- Khadi Pracharak Ratna Purasakar. K Krishnan Chettiyar of KSHPS, Thiruvananthapuram, and Beefathima of Hindi Mahavidyalayam, Dakshinabharata Hindi Prachara Sabha, Palakkad, were declared the winners of the Hindi Pracharak Puraskars for their efforts at propagating the national language. Former education minister E T Mohammad Basheer won the Samaj Seva Ratna Puraskar for humanitarian activities, while Govindan Nambuthiri of Inchur Illam, Thrikkariyur, was selected for the Desheeyodgrathana Puraskar for ensuring amity between religious communities.

The Vanitha Seva Ratna Puraskar went to Kerala Poultry Development Corporation chairperson Kamala Sadanandan,and Arogya Seva Ratna Puraskar went to the Punarnava Ayurveda Hospital, Karunagapally, managing director Dr A M Anwar. St Antony’s Educational Charitable Trust, Kochi, chairman Jijo George, Royal Foot Court, Thalassery, managing director T C Rafique and Keram Oil Mills, Asamannur, managing director P K Narayanan won the Technical Education, Vyavasaya Yuva Ratna and the Grameen Vyavasaya Puraskars respectively.
