KOCHI: Cricketer Sreesanth is in the news for something other than the IPL this time. He will soon be seen as part of music fusion band ‘S36 - The Band.’ Sreesanth does not just own the band but will also be performing dance numbers. Why S36? S stands for Sreesanth and 36 is his lucky jersey number. The band will be playing originals and contemporary Hindi and English hits in a self-created version.

India elements, the leading events and artist managing firm which manages and promotes international music bands like Dundhubhi, Positive Virus and Sunaadha, will be the promoters of S36. The official launch of the band will be held in Dubai by May-end with a mega entertainment stage show with Bollywood and South Indian stars.

The band will perform curtain raiser shows in major Indian cities before the official launch. The first curtain raiser show will be at JT Pac at 6.30 pm on January 30. Performing along with Sreesanth will be Madhu Balakrishnan and Punjabi singer Preethi Bhalla among others.

The band members have been chosen from around the country after a series of tough auditions and trials. The regular band members are Anoop and Narayanan Unni on the keyboard, Sandip on the lead guitar, Arun Roop on the drums and Chippu on the base guitar. Manoj George on the violin and Dennis Jose on the flute and saxophone and Shomi Davis on the percussion will be guest musicians. The band will feature celebrated singers during  each show, depending on the venue of the performance. Dipusanth, brother of Sreesanth, and Sreesanth’s childhood friend Deepak Warrier, are the people behind the concept and execution of the band.
