Shantikumar Nair wins National Research Award

KOCHI: Shantikumar Nair, director, Amrita Centre for Nanosciences, has been awarded the National Research Award 2011 instituted by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology.

The award was presented to Shantikumar Nair by Professor CNR Rao, honorary president of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), and  scientific advisor to the Prime Minister, on the IIT campus, New Delhi.

Nair is also the dean of research, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham which has campuses in Kochi, Coimbatore, Bangalore, Kollam and Mysore. He was honoured for his contributions in the application of nanotechnology in the biomedical field.
